Making a Krathong Wish

Artwork Name: Making a Krathong Wish

Artist: Apichaya Yattong

Medium: Acrylic painting

Size: 30 × 30 cm

Short Description: Under the full moon, candlelit krathongs carry wishes, gratitude, and memories along the river.

Artwork Description: Making a Krathong Wish celebrates Loy Krathong, one of Thailand’s most beautiful and meaningful traditions. Held on the night of the full moon, the festival honours Phra Mae Kongka, the water goddess, while allowing people to make wishes, give thanks, and let go of troubles through floating krathongs.

The painting captures the joyful atmosphere of the festival: candlelit krathongs drifting with the river current, people dressed in traditional Thai clothing, and the gentle glow of the full moon. It reflects the warmth, beauty, and lasting memories of Loy Krathong as both a cultural celebration and a personal moment of hope.
